Tem coisa melhor do que comida? E comer num lugar lindo? Pois é nesse clima de gordice que começo os posts sobre minha viagem a Porto Seguro.
Is there anything better than food? And eating in a beautiful place? In this climate of "fatness" I start posting about my trip to Porto Seguro.
O lugar é um ponto turístico famoso e recebe visita desde milionários que podem esbanjar em resorts, hotéis de luxo ou mansões alugadas até meros mortais (meu caso) que a família passou um tempo economizando para finalmente se dar ao luxo de viajar. Por isso, na cidade se encontram vários restaurantes, bares, churrascarias e demais estabelecimentos fontes de gordura nos mais diversos preços. Geralmente os que ficam mais à mostra, em shoppings ou em pontos de maior passagem de turistas são mais caros, mas não é a regra.
The place is a famous tourist spot and receives visit from millionaires who can squander in resorts, luxury hotels or rented mansions, until mere mortals (my case) that the family spent time saving to finally afford to travel. Therefore, the city will find many restaurants, bars, steakhouses and other sources of fat stores in various prices. Generally those who are more on display in malls or major points of passing tourists are more expensive, but it is not the rule.
Logo que chegamos fomos atrás de uma verdadeira moqueca baiana, aquela com muito molho de dendê, porque afinal estávamos na Bahia e convenhamos que essa é a melhor moqueca (pelo menos pro meu paladar). Uma das minhas dicas é procurar bem (durante aquele rolê pra conhecer a cidade mesmo) antes de comer no primeiro lugar que aparecer. Dá para achar comida boa e que não é cara. Ok, nós chegamos com bastante fome e não procuramos muito, mas achamos a tal moqueca, e o espetáculo foi esse:
As soon as we arrived we were behind a real Bahian fish stew, that with palm oil sauce, because after all we were in Bahia and lets admit that this is the best stew (at least for my taste). One of my tips is to look well (during your tour to know the city better) before eating at the first place to appear. You can find good food and is not expensive. Ok, we got hungry enough and do not look much, but we found the stew, and the show was this:
Essa beleza foi devidamente consumida no Grill & Cia ali mesmo na Avenida do Descobrimento. A porção foi para três pessoas (sobrou para mais uma) e tudo (+refri) foi menos de R$60,00.
This beauty was duly consumed in Grill & Cia right there on the Avenue of the Discovery (Avenida do Descobrimento). The portion was for three people (and left to another one) and all (+ soft drink) was under R$ 60,00 (~$27.00).
Achou um pouco caro? Aguarde. No dia seguinte (depois de dar aquela volta pela cidade que sugeri) almoçamos em um restaurante que você paga pelo prato pronto. Existem algumas opções e pode-se escolher o tipo de carne. O meu foi com carne de boi e a salada de cenoura+alface+tomate. Prato tradicional mesmo:
Found it a little expensive? Wait. The next day (after touring around the city as I suggested) we had lunch at a restaurant that you pay for the finished dish. There are a few options and you can choose the type of meat. Mine was with beef and carrot salad + lettuce + tomato. A traditional dish:
O lugar, pasme, não fica muito distante do da moqueca. Na verdade fica em cima do Avenida Shopping! Na mesma Avenida do Descobrimento. Era mais ou menos R$10,00 o prato.
The place, amazingly enough, is not far from where we ate the fish stew. Actually sits atop the Avenue Mall (Shopping Avenida)! On the same Avenue of Discovery (Avenida do Descobrimento). It was about R$ 10,00 (~$4.50) per dish.
Por último e não menos importante o self-service de Santa Cruz Cabrália (próxima cidade). Foi em uma das paradas durante o passeio de escuna (vou falar dele em outro post). Existem alguns restaurantes próximos e pelo que eu entendi cada escuna fecha com um restaurante para parar sempre ali. Não lembro o nome do nosso mas o self-service era relativamente caro. A vantagem era que a comida era muito variada, bem feita e com música ao vivo!
Last but not least, the self-service at Santa Cruz Cabrália (next city). It was one of the stops during the schooner trip (I will talk about it in another post). There are few restaurants nearby, from what I understand each schooner deal with a restaurant to always stop there. O don't remember the name of it but our self-service was relatively expensive. The advantage was that the food was varied, well made and with live music!

Como falei, existem locais caros sim mas dá para encontrar comida mais barata (incluindo fast foods).
As I said, there are quite pricey places but you can find cheaper food (including fast foods).
